After eating way too much chocolate and other treats during the holidays, I wanted to create my own detox drink to help me get back on track. This detox green tea drink tastes really refreshing, and in my opinion, it doesn’t even need any added sweetener. If you wish to sweeten it up a little, you can use stevia. My girls also loved this drink, even though I didn’t add any sweetener to it.
Here’s why I chose these ingredients:
Matcha green tea boosts metabolism and burns fat. One study even suggested that matcha may help burn calories by four times. It doesn’t raise blood pressure, heart rate or put any stress on the body. Matcha is packed with antioxidants, containing over 100 times more of the popular antioxidant known as EGCG found in regular green tea.
Cinnamon helps boost your metabolism. It also regulates blood sugar and stops food cravings. Cinnamon slows down the emptying of your stomach, mostly to reduce the blood sugar spikes. And if you feel fuller, then chances are you will eat less. If you’re taking cinnamon on a daily basis, then Ceylon Cinnamon is the best choice, because it has low coumarin levels and won’t damage your liver.
Lemon juice contains pectin, a soluble fiber that has been shown to help with weight-loss by helping you feel full and keeping cravings at bay. Lemons also help get rid of the toxins in your body.
Not only do nectarines sweeten this drink, but phenolic compounds present in them have anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic properties in different cell lines and may also reduce the oxidation of bad cholesterol LDL which is associated to cardiovascular disease. Mint leaves stimulate the digestive enzymes that absorb nutrients from food and consume fat and turn it into usable energy. Mint also promotes digestion and soothes stomach.
My detox drink certainly works for weight loss to some extent, but it must be combined with a healthy program of diet and exercise.
I wrote my FREE e-book about my favorite tips for sustainable weight loss. Personally, I follow these simple habits each day. I started following this routine 2 years ago, and I‘ve kept my weight 20 pounds(10 kg) less ever since, even though I have treats every day and won’t use a lot of time for exercising. I highly recommend giving my tips a try. When you subscribe to my newsletter, you will receive my e-book, a food diary and my natural beauty tricks video.
